Stamford Public Schools (SPS) announced that two teams comprising six students from the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter at Westhill High School (WHS) placed in the top 10 of the FBLA Awards of Excellence Program at the FBLA National Leadership Conference. The conference, which had been originally scheduled for June 29 through July 2, in Salt Lake City, Utah, was instead held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Students from across the United States and abroad participated in the conference with the goal of enhancing their business skills, expanding their networks, and participating in more than 70 business and business-related competitive events. The following students placed:
• Tejas Vermani, Priscilla Tehrani and Gauron Bansal, WHS, 5th place, Banking and Financial Systems
• Brynn Spingola, Talia Kunin and Morgan McDonald, WHS, 10th place, Emerging Business Issues
“We are so proud of our students, to finish in the top 10 at the national level is very difficult, and to have two groups finish in the top 10 is amazing,” said WHS Business Education Teacher and FBLA Advisor Karen Kurtz. “The students are so dedicated and rose to the challenge of this being a virtual event.”
